Profil Pasien Cedera Medula Spinalis Di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Periode 2018-2022
Spinal cord injury is a condition where there is disruption to the spinal cord, resulting in substantial sensory, motor and autonomic deficits or even permanent loss of neurological function up to death. This study aims to determine the profile of spinal cord injury patients at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province for the period January 2018 – December 2022.
This type of research is descriptive retrospective using cross sectional techniques. The number of samples was 67 medical records of patients diagnosed with spinal cord injury. The instrument in this study used patient medical records. The variables observed were age, gender, occupation, traumatic cause, injury location, severity, AIS classification, and clinical outcomes.
The results of the study showed that 41.8% of the patient's age was 20-44 years old, 86.6% of the patient's gender was male, and 53.7% of the patient's occupation was self-employed. The cause of traumatic spinal cord injury was 49.3% due to traffic accidents, with the location of the cervical injury being 67.2%, the complete severity level being 52.2%, the AIS classification being Grade A being 52.2%, and the patient's clinical outcome being worse. as much as 40.3%.
It can be concluded that cases of spinal cord injury at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province for the period January 2018 – December 2022, mostly occurred in men of productive age who worked as entrepreneurs with the most causes being traffic accidents.
