Kecepatan Renang Ikan Paweh (Osteochilus Hasselti) Dalam Tangki Berarus (Flume Tank) Dan Berenang Bebas (Free Swimming)

Paweh fish (Osteochilus hasselti) is an endemic fish of Indonesia that lives in the water. The swimming speed and endurance of the fish were tested and observed in a flume tank swimming channel. The purpose of this study was to test the endurance and swimming speed of Paweh fish. This research was conducted on 21-06 February 2023 at the Fishing Gear Material Laboratory, Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Riau University. The method used in this research is an experiment where direct testing is carried out with the number of samples used as many as 50 fish, fish body length 6 - 12 cm and obtained a standard deviation value of body length 0.82 cm. Based on the test results obtained swimming speed paweh fish sustained < 4.7 BL / sec, maximum sustained 4.7 BL / sec, prolonged ranging from 4.7 - 9.3 TL / sec, burst swimming speed 9.3 BL / sec. The relationship between swimming speed and swimming endurance of paweh fish is negatively correlated with a value of (R2 = 0.87) which means that the swimming endurance of fish decreases if given a high swimming speed and the swimming ability of fish is drastically reduced. Based on the test results, it can be suggested that paweh fish cage culture can use waters with a water current of 4.7 BL/sec (11.50 cm/sec) which is the daily swimming speed of paweh fish.
