Strategi Bertahan Hidup Sopir Angkutan Kota (Angkot) Di Kota Padang

This research is located in Padang City, more precisely the city transportation route Pasar Raya – Lubuk Buaya – Batas Kota in Padang City. This research aims to determine: 1) the economic condition of suburban drivers, 2) survival strategies of suburban drivers in Padang City. This research according to the analytical approach is a descriptive quantitative approach and according to its essential purpose, it is a type of basic research. The population in this study amounted to 295 suburban drivers. In this study using the slovin formula to determine the sample so as to get a sample of 75 suburban drivers and to find respondents using accidental sampling techniques. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the strategy most implemented by respondents is a passive strategy, followed by a network strategy, and finally an active strategy. Respondents who implemented the overall survival strategy effectively amounted to 49 respondents with a percentage of 65.3%, while respondents who implemented the overall survival strategy ineffectively amounted to 26 respondents with a percentage of 34.7%.
