21st century education for students requires learning that is no longer just conventional academic learning that emphasizes educational authority in learning, but rather education that offers learning services that enable them to collaborate, communicate, solve problems, think critically, be creative and innovative. To realize the challenges of the 21st century and industry 4.0 which uses technology, teacher creativity is needed in preparing teaching materials, methods, strategies and innovative learning models to improve students' critical thinking.
Based on the results of observations made at SMA Handayani Pekanbaru, SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru, and SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru. It can be concluded that the development of teaching materials in the form of e-modules is very necessary because teachers only use textbooks and LKPD during the teaching and learning process, teachers have never used e-modules during learning. And teachers do not use learning resources that can support students' critical thinking. Students have difficulty in providing arguments when asked for written explanations to solve problems, and students are unable to analyze and synthesize problems. Based on the results of daily tests for class XI Science at SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru at TP. In 2022/2023 in biology subjects, especially immune system material, an average of only 39% achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria.
This research aims to determine the feasibility, practicality and analyze the influence of an immune system e-module based on empowering thinking through questions on improving students' critical thinking abilities. This type of research is a "Research and Development" (R&D) type of research. This research consists of 2 stages, namely: stage I is e-module development and stage II is experimentation. The development model used is the ADDIE development model which consists of five development stages, namely: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. At the analysis stage, curriculum analysis, needs analysis, learning material analysis, pedagogical analysis and student analysis are carried out. Data was collected through observation and interviews with teachers and students. The design stage consists of two stages, namely the design of learning tools (RPP, Syllabus) and the initial design of the e-module teaching materials created. Designing the e-module using the Flippingbook.com application, which consists of Cover, Title, Foreword, Table of Contents, Concept Map, Introduction, Instructions for Use, Learning Activities, Summary, Evaluation, Glossary, Bibliography. The development process is carried out by validating the e-module to determine the quality of the e-module being developed and to obtain recognition that the e-module being developed meets the needs of learning activities. The E-Module is validated by validators consisting of material experts, media experts and pedagogical experts. After that, a practicality test was carried out on the end users of the e-module, namely 2 biology teachers and 30 class XII science students who had studied the immune system material. The implementation or experimental stage was carried out on class XI students at SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru. The implementation phase was carried out in control and experimental classes which had been determined to see students' critical thinking by providing multiple choice questions that integrated pretest critical thinking indicators at the beginning and posttest at the end of the lesson. The evaluation stage is carried out in the form of a comprehensive evaluation of the development process carried out and the impact obtained from using the product.
The results of research on validity tests by material expert validators, media experts and pedagogical experts show that the immune system e-module based on empowering thinking through questions developed is of very high quality and is suitable for use, this can be seen from the average validation results, namely 92.78 with the Very Valid category. . The practicality test results of the immune system e-module based on empowering thinking through questions are classified as very practical, this can be seen from the average practicality of 96.8 in the Very practical category. The results of the t test on students' critical thinking abilities were found to have a significant value of 0.001 < 0.05, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It can be concluded that the immune system e-module based on empowering thinking through questions has an effect on improving the critical thinking skills of high school students.
Based on the results of research on the development of an immune system e-module based on Thinking Empowerment Through Questions, it can be concluded that: 1). The quality Immune System E-module based on Empowerment of Thinking Through Questions is very suitable for use, this can be seen from the average validation results, namely 92.78 with the Very Valid category. 2). The Immune System e-module based on Thinking Empowerment Through Questions is classified as very practical, this can be seen from the average practicality of 96.8 in the Very practical category. 3). The Immune System e-module based on Empowered Thinking Through Questions has a significant influence on improving students' critical thinking abilities.
