Penerapan Model Discovery Learning Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis Peserta Didik Kelas X SMA IT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru
Abstract: This research was motivated by the low mathematical understanding ability of student in class X SMA IT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru is caused by the learning process being still teacher-centered, students does not constructing their own knowledge, and teachers are teaching using conventional methods. One way that can be used to overcome this is by applying the Discovery Learning model. This type of research is classroom action research which consists of two cycles. Each cycle includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This actions was carried out at SMA IT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year with 27 class X students. The research instruments used are learning tools consisting of Syllabus, Learning Implementation Plans, and Student Worksheets, while data collection instruments consist of observation sheets and tests of students' mathematical understanding abilities. Data was analyzed based on observations and tests of students' mathematical understanding abilities. The research results show that the application of the Discovery Learning model is able to improve students' mathematical understanding abilities. Increase in the average score of students' mathematics learning outcomes test from cycle I which is 57.8 to 74.69 in cycle II. Thus, the application of the Discovery Learning model can improve the learning process and improve the mathematical understanding abilities of class X students at SMA IT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru.
