An Analysis Of Errors Made By The First Grade Students Of SMAN 15 Pekanbaru In Writing Recount Texts
The objective of this research was to find out what types of grammatical errors were made by the first grade students of SMA Negeri 15 Pekanbaru in writing recount texts. The types of errors were analyzed according to Dulay’s theory. This was a descriptive research design that focused on a quantitative approach. The sample for this research was 36 students of the school above. They were selected to be the sample using the cluster sampling technique. A written test was used as the primary data. The collected data were analyzed by three raters, and the results were calculated using Microsoft Excel 2019. The result of this research showed that the students committed four types of errors: error of omission, error of addition, error of formation, and error of ordering. The most frequent type of error made by the students was error of formation, with 151 errors (74%), followed by error of omission, with 26 errors (13%), error of addition, with 19 errors (9%), and error in ordering, with 8 errors (4%).
