Judi Online Di Kalangan Remaja Di Kecamatan Binawidya Kota Pekanbaru

The aim of this research is to determine the causes and consequences of online gambling among teenagers in Binawidya District, Pekanbaru City, to find out the circumstances surrounding the rise of this activity. Descriptive qualitative research methodology was used in this research. Five teenagers from Binawidya District were participants in this research. Snowball sampling, an approach to finding informants with extensive knowledge that combines observation, interviews and documentation methods, was used to collect data for this research. Based on the findings of this research, social, economic and situational factors contribute to the prevalence of online gambling among teenagers in Binawidya District. Online betting is also favored by students for various reasons, including the need for extra money, vulnerability to peer pressure, and lack of parental supervision. Engaging in online betting activities can have several negative consequences, including academic disruption, financial instability, and increased likelihood of unauthorized activities such as theft.
