Evaluasi Efektivitas Marka Kotak Kuning (Yellow Box Junction) Pada Simpang Bersinyal Kota Pekanbaru
The intersection area of Jalan Garuda Sakti and the intersection of Jalan Tengku Bey Pekanbaru, is a center for education, commerce, offices, airports and also access roads outside the city. Traffic volumes that are not balanced with capacity cause deadlock at each intersection, resulting in congestion. Congestion at intersections can be overcome with yellow box junction markings. Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 34 of 2014 and Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 5 Road Marking London (2018) are used to see the suitability of the yellow box markings. The effectiveness of signalized intersection performance is calculated by the degree of saturation, while the characteristics of driver behavior use the Guttman scale. The analysis results show that the intersection of Jalan Garuda Sakti meets the standards. At the intersection of Jalan Tengku Bey there is a size discrepancy because it is larger than the applicable standards, but this does not affect the function of the markings. Violators of the yellow box markings at intersection four were 14.21% on Tuesdays, 9.98% on Sundays, while intersection three was 6.12% on Tuesdays and 15.20% on Sundays. As a result, there were high delays with a degree of saturation (DJ) at intersection four of 0.875 on Tuesday and 0.878 on Sunday. At the intersection, it was 0.971 on Tuesday, and 0.860 on Sunday. There were long queues at the intersection so the markings were not effective in improving intersection performance. Characteristics: 31% of respondents did not know about the yellow box markings. The remaining 59.96% knew the function of the markers and 43.04% did not understand the function of the markers. There are still many drivers who do not obey and understand traffic regulations so that the use of yellow box markings at the research location is not effective in improving intersection performance.
