Analisis Sifat Mekanik Mortar Ringan Campuran Serat Polypropylene Akibat Terpapar Suhu Tinggi

Lightweight mortar is an alternative building material as a binder between bricks and plastering that has a lower density than brick in general. When a fire occurs in a building, it can affect the characteristics of the mortar which is characterized by discoloration and physical changes such as cracks on the surface of the mortar. Various innovations have been made to improve the quality of lightweight mortar, one of which is the addition of polypropylene fibers which have good mechanical properties in terms of ductility and heat resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine the mechanical properties of polypropylene fiber blended lightweight mortar namely compressive strength value, surface settlement, stress and strain before and after exposure to high temperature. This study used variations in composition with polypropylene fiber content of 1% and 5% by weight of cement. The mortars were cuboid with side length of 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm. The mortars were fired at 100°C and 200°C for 30 minutes at the age of 28 days and then tested for compressive strength and surface settlement. Based on the results of the study, the optimum compressive strength value before the mortar is burned is when adding 5% polypropylene fiber, but at 200 ° C temperature exposure, the highest compressive strength value decreases before and after exposure to high temperatures reaching 61.78%. Directly proportional to the compressive strength, the optimum surface degradation value before and after exposure to high temperatures occurs with the addition of polypropylene fiber.
