Prarancangan Pabrik Etilen Glikol Dari Etilen Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Etilen Glikol (T-100)
Ethylene glycol is an organic compound with the molecular formula C2H6O2. It is a colorless, odorless, sweet-tasting liquid that is completely soluble in water. Ethylene glycol is widely used in the polyester industry (textiles), paint manufacturing, ink, cosmetics, and antifreeze. The main raw materials used in the production of ethylene glycol are ethylene gas and oxygen. The synthesis process of ethylene glycol involves direct oxidation followed by non-catalytic hydration. The planned operation of this plant is 330 days per year, operating continuously for 24 hours/day with a capacity of 200,000 tons/year. The location of this plant is planned to be in Krakatau Industrial Estate Cilegon (KIEC), Banten Province. The chosen form of the company is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours, consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this plant is the Ethylene Glycol Distillation Column (T-100), which functions to separate and purify ethylene glycol from diethylene glycol and triethylene glycol to a purity of 99.5%. This Ethylene Glycol Distillation Column (T-100) operates at a pressure of 1 atm with a peak temperature of 197.412˚C and a base temperature of 241.311˚C. Based on the economic feasibility analysis, this plant is feasible to be established with a Payback Period (PBP) of 2 years, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.758%, Return on Investment (ROI) of 41.38227%, and Break-Even Point (BEP) of 50%.
