Penentuan Sifat Magnetik Dan Morfologi Partikel Oksida Besi Berbasis Pasir Pantai Ampalu Pariaman Doping Chromium
Iron oxide particles are an iron oxide material that has very unique magnetic properties. This research was carried out with the aim of studying and determining the magnetic properties, surface morphology and composition of iron oxide particles. Iron oxide particles have been prepared using ball milling in three stages based on Ampalu Pariaman beach sand, West Sumatra. The total grinding time is 130 hours where each stage of product grinding was processed by strong NdFeB magnets. NdFeB magnet was used to separate iron oxide and non-iron oxide particles. The final ball milling iron oxide product was divided into 4 parts where each part is doped with chromium with a concentration of (0, 5, 10 and 15) wt.%. The final sample called BM4 namely of BM4 0, BM4 5, BM4 10 and BM4 15. The magnetic properties, surface morphology and composition of the samples were determined using Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) respectively. The VSM results show that the magnetic properties of the sample show clear hysteretic properties. Saturation magnetization (Ms) values decreased from 36,54 emu/g, 35,22 emu/g, 33,19 emu/g, 31,15 emu/g with increasing chromium concentration from 0, 5, 15 and 20, wt.% respectively. The remanent magnetization value (Mr) in general also decreased. The coercivity (Hc) value increases (301,04 Oe, 387,69 Oe, 400,97 Oe and 411,75 Oe) with increasing chromium concentration (0, 5, 10 and 15) wt.%, respectively. The morphology of the samples observed using SEM with a magnification of 15,000 times showed that the average value of particle size varied from 0,360 µm, 0,337 µm, 0,342 µm and 0,358 µm with increasing chromium concentration of 0, 5, 15 and 20 wt.%, respectively. The elemental composition of Cr and Fe in the Amplalu beach sand sample is 0,005% and 9,221%, while the final composition of the ball milling product after being doped with 5 wt.% Cr is 4,089% and 75,763% for Cr and Fe, respectively.
