Pemanfaatan Media Sosial Tiktok Bagi Kalangan Mahasiswa Di Kota Pekanbaru
TikTok as one of the most popular social media in Indonesia, especially among students aged 18-24 years, offers interesting features that attract the attention of its users. However, the impact of using TikTok can be positive or negative, depending on how users utilize it. This study aims to find out: 1) the motives behind the use of TikTok by students in Pekanbaru City, 2) the pattern of TikTok social media utilization for students in Pekanbaru City. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The population in this study were TikTok user students at Pekanbaru City University by determining the sample size using the lemeshow formula with a sample size of 96 people. Then using nonprobability sampling techniques, namely purposive sampling and accidental sampling. The results showed that some motives were dominant, namely the trend motive (1,381), the motive for interesting features (929), the entertainment motive (1,075), and the information motive (1,078). Furthermore, the motives that were less dominant were the popularity motive (1,150), and the self-expression motive (860). Some types of TikTok utilization patterns that are dominant, namely information patterns (1,304), personal identity patterns (914), entertainment patterns (980), and consumption patterns (931). Furthermore, the types of patterns that are worth less dominant are social integration and interaction (1,023), and non-dominant economic value (740).
