Prarancangan Pabrik Asetaldehid Dari Etilen Proses Wacker Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Asetaldehid (T-103)
The need for acetaldehyde production in Indonesia will continue to increase along with the development of industrial, trade and service activities as well as population growth in Indonesia. Acetaldehyde is an organic compound that is widely used in the chemical industry as an intermediate to produce other chemicals, such as raw materials for making acetic acid, n-butanol, crotonaldehyde, acetic anhydrous and so on. The raw materials used in making acetaldehyde are ethylene and oxygen. The wacker process is the selected process in this factory. The acetaldehyde factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 55.000 tons/year which will be established in the Plaju area, Palembang, South Sumatra. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift employees and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this factory is a distillation tower which functions to separate acetaldehyde (CH3CHO) from water (H2O), acetic acid (CH3COOH) and crotonaldehyde (CH3CH=CHO). This distillation tower is operated at a feed temperature of 18oC, top temperature of 21oC, bottom temperature of 84,22 oC and pressure of 1 atm. Economic analysis of the design of the acetaldehyde factory shows that this factory is feasible to establish with a production Break Even Point (BEP) value of 40%, Payback Period (PBP) of 2 years 9 months, PBP of 23% and POT of 2 years 9 months. Return of Investment (ROI) was 24,6% and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) was 38,42% and the profit sensitivity rate of the acetaldehyde factory was not sensitive to changes in raw material prices, product selling prices and production capacity.
