Perancangan Pekanbaru Japanese Botanical Center Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Jepang
Pekanbaru City, as one of the growth centers in Indonesia which is rich in natural resources, faces big challenges in meeting the needs of green open space (RTH) for its residents. Currently, only around 5% of the city's total area is allocated as green open space, making meeting this need even more urgent. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed people's behavior, increasing interest in ornamental plants and emphasizing the importance of green open spaces as a vital element in urban life. To answer this need, the Pekanbaru Japanese Botanical Center was designed as a multifunctional area that focuses on activities related to ornamental plants. In contrast to conventional botanical gardens, the Botanical Center is directed at conservation, research and education activities regarding plants, while still providing attractive recreational facilities for the community. This area is integrated with the Japanese Architecture theme, which not only includes a collection of ornamental plants but also architectural approaches, aesthetics and Japanese philosophical principles. The application of the wabi sabi concept which emphasizes beauty in imperfection and simplicity is implemented through the use of traditional Japanese roof shapes and environmentally friendly materials such as clay roofs. Apart from that, the use of large open spaces and walkways connecting the buildings is also designed to create a harmonious and comfortable environment for visitors. The Pekanbaru Japanese Botanical Center is expected to become a center for plant education and conservation, with a special focus on plants from Japan. Through this facility, visitors can understand the uniqueness and beauty of Japanese plants and their important role in nature conservation. Apart from that, it is hoped that the Botanical Center can become a fun and educational recreation area, which also functions as a beautiful and inspiring public space. With the realization of this design, the Pekanbaru Japanese Botanical Center is expected to make a significant contribution in improving the quality of life of the community and awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.
