Perancangan Randai Center Di Batusangkar, Sumatra Barat Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Metafora

Batusangkar City is known as the City of Culture. The diversity of customs and culture is inherited in the form of historical relics. This is proven by the existence of the Basa Pagaruyung Palace as the home of the greatness of the Minangkabau people. Not only that, Batusangkar also has cultural heritage in the form of traditional dance and music. Due to the uniqueness and richness of its arts, Tanah Datar Regency succeeded in receiving the Creative Regency/City award in Indonesia (KKI 2021). Creative KaTa is one of the flagship programs of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/BPEK) to explore, manage and develop the creativity and local potential of districts or cities in Indonesia. However, in reality, the city of Batusangkar still lacks facilities capable of accommodating all performing arts activities. This can be seen in the art performances held in front of the entrance gate to the Basa Pagaruyung Palace tourist location, and near the park in front of the Palace. The stage used for performances is still a disassembled stage belonging to the Tanah Datar Regency Culture and Tourism Office. For this reason, it is very important to provide facilities that can accommodate performance activities as well as being a forum for the art itself and its artists to continue to be maintained. The design of the Randai Center in Batusangkar is a form of art appreciation and also as a forum for existing arts so that they can continue to exist and be sustainable. It is hoped that the design of the Randai Center using the Metaphor Architecture Approach will ensure that the public will continue to get to know performing arts and watch them with more adequate facilities, as well as creating new visuals that bring observers' feelings of nostalgia and reminiscing about the character of the arts being highlighted.
