Face Recognition Pada Sistem Presensi Mahasiswa Dengan Penerapan Metode You Only Look Once (Yolo)

Information technology is widely used to assist humans in completing various
tasks. One institution that requires the application of information technology is
the University of Riau, specifically the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences, which currently uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology
for updating student attendance data. There are several issues, such as students
not bringing their RFID cards, which prevents them from recording their
attendance. You Only Look Once (YOLO) is a Deep Learning algorithm aimed at
detecting specific objects. The web-based attendance system can be operated on
devices that meet the requirements, namely having a Global Positioning System
(GPS) feature, a camera connected to the user’s device, and the device must be
able to access the attendance system web through a browser. Face identification
in this case is carried out using TinyYOLOv2 modeling, with the camera
capturing image data from video, which directly divides the captured information
into digital form. The algorithm’s ability to identify user faces is influenced by
several factors, such as image saturation level, brightness level, and the camera’s
input capability. The implementation of Face Recognition in the attendance
system has successfully been used as proof of attendance and security verification
when recording attendance.
