Pengaruh Model Problem Based Learning Berbantuan Media Quizizz Terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Fase E Di Sman 8 Pekanbaru
21st century education is faced with the challenge of producing competent human resources who are able to compete globally. Critical thinking skills are one of the competencies that students must have in the 21st century, but the facts on the ground show that learning activities in the classroom do not train students' critical thinking skills and based on the results of the initial test, students' critical thinking skills are categorized as low and less critical. Therefore, learning models and media are needed that can train students' critical thinking skills such as the Problem Based Learning model and Quizizz media. This study aims to determine the effect of the problem based learning model assisted by Quizizz media on the critical thinking skills of Phase E students at SMAN 8 Pekanbaru. This research is expected to be useful for students in training their critical thinking skills to be better, becoming a learning innovation that teachers can use to improve the quality of biology learning in schools.
This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a quantitative approach. The research design used is the control group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted in class X of SMAN 8 Pekanbaru in February-March 2024. The population of this study consisted of 12 class X students, the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The number of research samples consisted of 47 students in the experimental class and 47 students in the control class. The research parameters were critical thinking skills with six indicators, namely interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. Data collection techniques used critical thinking skills tests (pretest-posttest questions) and observation sheets. The results of the study showed that students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class based on the average pretest score was 54.81 with a very uncritical category, while the average posttest score was 80.69 was categorized as critical. Students' critical thinking skills in the control class based on the average pretest score of 50.89 were categorized as very uncritical, and the posttest score of 62.89 was categorized as quite critical. The results of observations of students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class obtained an average observation score of 84.62% with a very critical category, while in the control class an average observation score of 70.72% was categorized as critical.
