Analisis Peran Penyuluh Pada Petani Hortikultura Di Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai
This study examines the impact of agricultural extension services on horticulture farmers in Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City. These farmers contend with challenges such as limited capital, land availability, fluctuating prices, market competition, and a lack of knowledge and skills. The study has three main objectives: to describe the characteristics of the farmers, to analyze the role of extension services, and to identify the goals of extension agents. A Simple Random Sampling method was employed, involving 30 respondents selected from two active farmer groups. Primary data was gathered through interviews, while secondary data was sourced from relevant agencies. The analysis revealed that the performance of extension agents in the areas of education, facilitation, coaching, monitoring, evaluation, and consultation was categorized as good. Their efforts have demonstrably improved farmers' knowledge, skills, and motivation, and have also facilitated access to financial institutions and markets. However, shortcomings were identified in the communication of commodity price information and the provision of technological facilities. To enhance the effectiveness of extension services, the study recommends ongoing training for extension agents and improved technological support. It is anticipated that the findings of this study will serve as a valuable reference for the development of future agricultural extension programs.
