When in the school environment, teachers become examples and role models for students, therefore a teacher is required to be able to guide each student. Therefore, teachers must also be role models of altruistic behavior, helping to overcome problems faced by their students or difficulties that occur in the surrounding community. For this reason, teachers should have and develop high interpersonal sensitivity and a caring attitude to respond effectively to problems that arise both in the school environment and in the community.
Altruistic behavior is one of the positive actions to be carried out, altruistic behavior is part of the behavior that is necessary and developed in every environment, community environment and school environment. through the school environment, school is not only a place to gain knowledge, but also a place for teachers to be able to socialize with fellow teachers at school, with socialization between teachers it can shape the character of teachers and increase empathy and sympathy for teachers to help each other regardless of one's caste or race. .
There are several things that teachers must have, namely the belief in the individual's ability to mobilize motivation, cognitive abilities, and the actions needed to meet the demands of the situation, called self-efficacy. This influences individuals in determining the actions that a person will take to achieve a goal, including estimates of all the events that will be faced in life, so that self-confidence is what influences a person to be able to master various situations that are felt and can get positive results. Then one of the situational factors that can influence altruism is the condition of the work environment.
This research raises research problems regarding: (1) Is there a significant and positive influence of self-efficacy on the altruism of SMP teachers in Tapung Hulu District? (2) Is there a significant and positive influence of the work environment on the altruism of SMP teachers in Tapung Hulu District? (3) Is there a significant and positive influence of self-efficacy and work environment together on the altruism of SMP teachers in Tapung Hulu District? Then based on the problem formulation, the objectives of this research include; (1) To find out and analyze the influence of self-efficacy on the altruism of Tapung Hulu District SMP teachers. (2) To find out and analyze the work environment regarding the altruism of Tapung Hulu District SMP teachers. (3) To find out and analyze the influence of self-efficacy and the work environment together on the altruism of SMP teachers in Tapung Hulu District.
This research uses a quantitative approach with the type of research that will be used is ex post facto research. The technique in this research was carried out to analyze the influence of two independent variables, namely self-efficacy (X1), work environment (X2), on one dependent variable, namely altruism (Y). The population in this study was all junior high schools in Tapung Hulu District with a teacher population of 212 teachers, the research sample was 139 teachers in Junior High Schools in Tapung Hulu District. The trial was carried out on 30 school teachers from whom the remaining samples were taken. The data collection technique is in the form of an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Meanwhile, what is used to process and analyze data in this research is research data profile analysis techniques in the form of descriptions, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. This research data was analyzed using the SPSS (statistical package for social science) Version.25 program.
The results of the research showed that (1) there was a significant and positive influence between the self-efficacy variable on the altruism of Tapung Hulu District SMP teachers, and the magnitude of the influence was 55.5%, (2) a significant and positive influence of the work environment variable on the altruism of District SMP teachers Tapung Hulu and the magnitude of the influence is 50.9%, and (3) the significant and positive influence of self-efficacy and work environment variables on the altruism of SMP teachers in Tapung Hulu District and the magnitude of the influence is 56.9%.
