Tanah Merah Village, Indragiri Hilir Regency, is a village formed through sedimentation with solid materials such as sand, mud, and silt, which are grouped in marine areas. The condition of this area is that it is a swamp with brackish surface air and contains high levels of organic matter and iron. The people of Tanah Merah village rely on rainwater as a source of clean water, so rainwater harvesting is very necessary to meet the needs of clean water.
The purpose of this research is to find the best one from the available water in this village to support the provision of sustainable clean water needs in the swamp area and to analyze the capacity of rainwater reservoirs and rainfall contributions in existing and efficient conditions for houses with variations in roof area (64 m2, 186 m2, and 269 m2) of gable roofs with variations in the number of occupants of 4, 5, and 6 people.
The method used is based on the standards of Minister of Health Regulation No. 492/Menkes/IV/2010. The data required for this research is primary data obtained by researchers directly taking samples of rainwater, well water, and sea water and using a fuzzy logic approach as one branch of soft computing in the form of Mathlab to determine the size of rainwater reservoirs.
The results of this study were that rainwater has the best water quality compared to well water and seawater by testing physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters so that rainwater can be used as sanitary water for the community. Analysis using fuzzy logic obtained tank sizes that vary in each type of house, and the number of residents is 7 m3, 25 m3, and 26 m3, with a rainwater contribution of > 15% in one year.
