The phenomenon of the presence of online transportation has had a lot of impact on its users, one of which is students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Riau. This research aims to find out how students perceive online transportation and the efficiency of online transportation service users using the exchange theory approach by George C. Homans. The selected subjects for this research were five informants using snowball sampling techniques. This type of research is field research and uses a qualitative approach by Miles and Huberman. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that students already use online transportation as a daily necessity to facilitate their access to travel. The existence of online transportation provides an exchange between service users and drivers as service providers. The exchange that occurs is in the form of services provided by the driver, delivering passengers with comfortable service and service users, namely students, giving money as a form of exchange of services.
