ABSTRACT

Farmers have full responsibility for managing their oil palm plantations. Most farmers rely on their personal abilities to understand and develop the necessary facilities and infrastructure. However, with technological advancements such as smartphones, oil palm farmers should be able to gain easier access to the latest agricultural information. The objectives of this research are: (1) To describe the characteristics of independent oil palm farmers in Pematang Reba Village, Rengat Barat Subdistrict, Indragiri Hulu Regency; (2) To examine the factors influencing YouTube usage by independent oil palm farmers; (3) To analyze the impact of YouTube usage by independent oil palm farmers; (4) To analyze the relationship between characteristics and usage factors on the impact of YouTube usage by independent oil palm farmers. The research was conducted in Pematang Reba Village, Rengat Barat Subdistrict, Indragiri Hulu Regency. This research was carried out using a quantitative method with a survey and interviews with respondents. The analytical method used in this research to address objectives 1, 2, and 3 is descriptive analysis. Data were collected using a Likert Scale to measure respondents' perceptions and attitudes towards various variables studied. Spearman rank analysis was used to address the fourth objective regarding the relationship between the characteristics of independent oil palm farmers in Pematang Reba Village and YouTube usage factors with the impact on farmers in Pematang Reba Village.
