Hubungan Personal Hygiene Dengan Kejadian Skabies Pada Santri Pondok Pesantren Al-Muslimun Kabupaten Pelalawan
Scabies is a skin disease caused by infestation of the Sarcoptes scabiei varietas hominis. Symptoms of this disease are characterized by the presence of skin lesions in the predilection areas and itching that worsens at night (nocturnal pruritus). The appearance of scabies can be caused by several factors, including personal hygiene, humidity, temperature and environmental density. Students at boarding school have high chances to get infected by scabies because their risk of poor personal hygiene conditions and overcrowded occupants. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of scabies in students at Pondok Pesantren (Boarding School) Al-Muslimun Pelalawan Regency. This study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional design which was conducted from May to July 2024. The results of this study showed that the majority of students' personal hygiene is poor (83.2%). The incidence of scabies in boarding school students is 77 (22.6%), and the results of the analysis using the chi-square test regarding the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of scabies in boarding school students showed no significant relationship (p=0.237).
