Efek Ekstrak Buah Bakau (Rhizophora sp) Terhadap Gambaran Hepatocyte Ballooning Pada Hati Tikus Yang Diinduksib Diet Tinggi Lemak
Liver disorders are a significant health issue that require serious attention
due to their high morbidity and mortality rates. One of the liver disorders with a
high incidence is Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). NAFLD
encompasses 2 spectrums: Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver (NAFL) and its more severe
form, Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). NASH is histologically characterized
by hepatocyte ballooning, a form of hepatic cell degeneration marked by swelling
and a reticular appearance of the cytoplasm. This study aims to analyze the effect
of mangrove fruit (Rhizophora sp) extract on hepatocyte ballooning in the liver of
male Wistar rats (Rattus norwegicus) fed a high-fat diet. In this study, a total of 18
paraffin-embeded rat liver blocks were examined, divided into 3 groups: group 1
was fed a standard diet (K1), group 2 received a high-fat diet (K2), and group 3
was treated with a high-fat diet supplemented with Rhizophora sp fruit extract (K3).
The effect of Rhizophora sp fruit extract was assessed through histopathological
analysis using hematoxylin eosin staining. The results showed the mean of
hepatocyte ballooning in groups K1, K2, and K3 were 1,70 ± 0,32, 2,84 ± 0,59, and
1,57 ± 0,70. These results indicate a significant difference in the mean hepatocyte
ballooning among the 3 groups (p
