UJI AKTIVITAS AKTIMIKROBA ISOLAT JAMUR ENDOFIT DARI DAUN MANGGA KASTURI (Mangifera casturi Kosterm.) TERHADAP BEBERAPA MIKROBA PATOGEN

NAYNA AFRIDA / 2003126743 - Nama Orang;

The kasturi mango (Mangifera casturi Kosterm.) is an endemic plant of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Kasturi mango is categorized as an in situ endangered plant or Extinct in the Wild according to IUCN Red List. The endangered status of this mango population has also put the endophytic fungi in this plant at risk. Endophytic fungi live in the healthy plant tissues without causing disease to the host plant and have the same properties as their host. Kasturi mango contains secondary metabolites bearing antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. The purpose of this study is to assay antimicrobial activity of endophytic fungal isolates from kasturi mango leaves against several pathogenic microbes. The endophytic fungi were screened for antimicrobial activity againts pathogenic microbes using the agar diffusion method. Staphylococcus epidermidis, Propionibacterium acnes and Candida albicans, were found to be sensitive to the antimicrobial compounds produced by four isolates (Aspergillus sp. KMC 8, Aspergillus sp. KMC 16, Aspergillus sp. TMC 3, and Penicillium sp. KMC 5). The inhibition zone formed on S. epidermidis ranged was 26.37-33.37 mm, on P. acnes was 25.70-38.70 mm, and C. albicans was 19.77-24.27 mm. S. epidermidis, P. acnes and Trichopyton mentagrophytes were sensitive to compounds from Mycelia sterilia sp. KMC 10 with diameters 32.37, 27.50 and 28.40 mm respectively.
Key findings: antimicrobial, pathogenic microbes, endophytic fungi, antibiotics resistance, Mangifera casturi
