Pengaruh Soil-Structure Interaction Pada Struktur

The structural design method that assumes the column base as fixed or rigid is still frequently used due to its simplicity and conservative nature. This approach is popular because it does not require calculations of the actual soil stiffness, thereby easing implementation. However, this method results in larger internal forces within the structure, which means relatively higher seismic loads. Additionally, this approach is less accurate because it ignores the flexible nature of soil that can undergo deformation, especially during earthquakes, which should be considered to achieve a more comprehensive structural analysis. Based on this, the research aims to identify the dynamic behavior and structural performance when considering the effects of Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) and comparing it across structures of different heights. The analysis methods used are linear response spectrum and nonlinear static analysis (pushover), with soil stiffness represented by spring elements at nodal points along the pile foundation. The analysis results show that SSI can increase the natural period values of the structure and reduce the base seismic shear forces by 11% in both structures. Furthermore, the reduction in stiffness at the building supports decreases the inter-story drift by 29% in the 5-story structure and by 35% in the 10-story structure. SSI has also been proven to improve the structural performance level, indicated by a decrease in the ductility ratio performance point.
