Studi Pemodelan Spasial Prevalensi Diabetes Melitus Di Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with significant global health
implications, requiring effective prevention strategies, especially in regions with
limited healthcare access, such as Kepulauan Meranti District. This study aims to
analyze the spatial distribution of DM prevalence in Kepulauan Meranti from 2020
to 2023 and to examine the impact of demographic, socioeconomic, and healthcare
availability, and the number of food outlets factors. Data were sourced from
relevant agencies and analyzed using Geographic Information System (GIS)
software to visualize spatial distribution patterns. The findings indicate that the
highest average DM prevalence was recorded in Tebing Tinggi Barat, while the
lowest was in Tasik Putri Puyu. The COVID-19 pandemic was found to have
influenced the development of DM prevalence. Significant differences were
observed in population size, the percentage of residents with higher education, the
number of restaurants, gender ratios, and the proportion of healthcare workers
between districts with high and low DM prevalence. However, correlation analysis
revealed weak relationships between DM prevalence and demographic,
socioeconomic, healthcare availability, and environmental factors. These results
underscore the importance of data-driven approaches to identify priority areas and
develop effective DM prevention strategies, particularly in regions facing
geographical and socioeconomic challenges like Kepulauan Meranti Regency.
