Gambaran Kasus Malaria Berulang Di Provinsi Riau Periode 2019-2022
Recurrent malaria is a challenge in global malaria elimination efforts that is influenced by various factors such as treatment and treatment evaluation. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of recurrent malaria cases in Riau Province during 2019-2022 using a retrospective descriptive method based on secondary data from the P2PM Directorate of the Riau Provincial Health Office. Of the total 4,622 malaria cases, 232 cases (5%) were recurrent malaria, with a peak incidence in 2021 of 106 cases (45.7%). Rokan Hilir Regency recorded the most cases, with 178 cases (76.7%), especially in Panipahan Health Center, with 163 cases (70.3%). The characteristics of recurrent malaria patients are dominated by males, aged 19-59 years, and work as civil servants/police/soldiers. The Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method was most commonly used, with Plasmodium vivax as the most common cause, with 220 cases (94.8%). Although most cases (97.75%) were treated according to malaria management guidelines, treatment evaluation showed that 3,395 cases (73.5%) did not meet treatment standards. These findings are expected to inform efforts to maintain the malaria elimination certificate in Riau Province.
