Antimicrobial resistance is one of the 10 global threats defined by the World Health Organization (WHO). Regular evaluation needs to be done to overcome antimicrobial resistance. This study aims to evaluate the use of antibiotics in medical ward of Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital using the Point Prevalence Survey (PPS) method by WHO. The study was conducted in 5 rooms of medical ward of Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital, namely Jasmin, Kenanga 1, Kenanga 2, Mawar, and Krisan rooms during October-November 2024. The most common indication for antibiotic administration was community-acquired infection (CAI) with a percentage of 72.2%. Based on the type of therapy, of the 36 antibiotics given to patients, only 1 antibiotic was a definitive antibiotic (3.7%). Pneumonia was the most common indication for antibiotics (39.1%). Based on culture examination, out of 29 patients, there were 9 patients (31%) who underwent culture examination with the most common result being no microorganism growth (40%). Based on the suitability of antibiotic selection with guidelines, out of the 36 antibiotics given to patients, 12 were compliant with the guidelines (33.3%). The use of antibiotics in medical ward of Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital showed that only a small proportion of patients received antibiotic therapy according to guidelines with a low level of culture examination.
