Keanekaragaman Jenis Serangga di atas Permukaan Tanah di Taman Hutan Raya Sultan Syarif Hasyim Provinsi Riau
Insects are a class of invertebrates that dominate the earth's surface and belong to the phylum Arthropoda, which comprises animals with segmented legs. Insects can have both beneficial and detrimental roles in ecosystems. Those that feed on plant pests or act as predators are considered beneficial insects, while those that directly damage plants and cause economic losses are classified as pests. This research was conducted in Tahura Sultan Syarif Hasyim, Riau Province, across three types of vegetation: natural forest, shrubland, and oil palm plantations, from June to July 2024. The study employed yellow traps using a purposive sampling method. The insect diversity index (H') across the three locations was 2.5, indicating medium diversity levels. In natural forests, 733 individual insects were found, representing 9 orders and 35 families. The shrubland contained 1,375 individuals from 9 orders and 42 families, while the oil palm plantation yielded 1,064 individuals from 6 orders and 27 families.
