This research contains about taboos and prohibitions in farming in Teluk Merbau Village. The aim of this research is to determine the forms of violations and sanctions in the prohibition against farming. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Based on observations in Teluk Merbau Village, it was found that the community strongly adheres to taboos and prohibitions on farming that have existed since the time of their ancestors. However, based on the results of research conducted by the author, it was found that there were farmers who committed violations when farming, resulting in crop failure. The violations committed by the farmers were not reciting prayers when clearing land, planting various types of rice, and harvesting the rice in the front two rows. Sanctions received by farmers who violate them are experiencing crop failure, not being allowed to plant rice for 3 consecutive years, and the fatal outcome could be paralysis or even death. However, based on the results of the author's interviews with research informants who committed violations, they did not experience anything mystical, only failed harvests and were not allowed to plant rice for three consecutive years. The purpose of the taboos and prohibitions in Teluk Merbau Village is actually a form of ancestral efforts to preserve nature. The community also teaches the taboos and prohibitions in farming to the younger generation, so that taboos and prohibitions in farming remain sustainable in Teluk Merbau Village to this day.
