Strategi Bertahan Hidup Pedagang Kaki Lima Di Kawasan Stadion Utama Riau Kota Pekanbaru
This study was conducted at the Pekanbaru Main Stadium, Jalan Nagasakti, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province with the aim of identifying what strategies are applied to survive by street vendors in the Pekanbaru City Main Stadium Area. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Data collection through interview techniques, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that in terms of active strategies, street vendors have not implemented active strategies in survival because none of the informants have side jobs to increase their income, do not try to increase their working hours when selling, only 2 informants out of 5 informants interviewed diversified their sales products to increase their income. The passive strategies carried out by all informants are almost the same, namely making a priority scale of expenditure based on the most basic needs, dividing their income according to existing needs and trying to live as much as possible according to the income received. The network strategy applied by street vendors is to utilize non-formal relations such as family and formal relations such as banks to borrow money when adding capital and overcoming financial difficulties in meeting daily needs. These street vendors also formed the Stadion street vendors association, as a means of friendship between traders. According to some informants, this trader association is useful in their daily lives because they can help each other when a family member is sick or dies, and most importantly, maintain unity among traders. However, there are still informants who stated that they did not join this trader association because they felt that it was not beneficial for them and did not help either.
