Metilamina is a chemical used in the production of pesticides, explosives, medicines, and other organic chemicals. In addition, it is used in the pharmaceutical industry for the synthesis of drugs such as dextroamphetamine and ephedrine, and is used in the chemical industry for dyes, adhesives, and polymer raw materials. Metylamina is formed from the ammonia and methanol amination reaction by the kvaerner process. Amination takes place in a multitube fixed bed reactor. The reactor output will then be separated through a separation operation using a flash drum to separate the mixture of mono, di, and trimethylamine mixtures and water. The product is then flowed into the first distillation column to separate the ammonia that is still contained in the product, the mixture that is completely separated then enters the second distillation to separate the monomethylamine. Dimethylamine and trimethylene were then separated using n-heptane solvent on the absorber column and diethylene was separated. The mixture of trimethylene and n-heptane is then put into a flash drum to be separated. Products consisting of mono, di, and trimethylene are then fed into the product tank. The established factory will operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours with a capacity of 25,000 tons/year. The factory will be established in Bontang, East Kalimantan. The form of the company applied is a Limited Liability Company (PT). The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main tool design of the plant designed is a monomethylamine distillation column (T-102) which serves to separate monomethylamine products from the mixture. This distillation column is operated at a pressure of 1 atm with feed temperatures, upper and lower products of 45.65°C, -6.18°C and 66.76°C. Economic analysis of the factory shows that the factory is worth establishing. With a Break Even Point (BEP) value of 50%, Payback Period (PBP) during the year, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 27.38%, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.7%.
