Evaluasi Jalur Pedestrian Berdasarkan Parameter Walkability Index Di Kawasan Kampus UIN Suska Riau
State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau (UIN Suska Riau) has developed a Strategic Plan 2021-2025 with one of the goals of realising a green campus. In this endeavour, UIN Suska Riau is committed to creating a pedestrian-friendly environment. Many students living around the campus choose to walk as their main mode of transport. However, this is not supported by adequate pedestrian facilities, such as no crossing facilities and at some points there are damaged pedestrians. This study aims to evaluate pedestrian facilities in the UIN Suska Riau campus environment using the Global Walkability Index (GWI) method and PUPR Guidelines on theWalkability Index. The assessment was conducted by dividing the path into seven segments based on intersections. The results of interviews with respondents showed variations in the level of satisfaction and dissatisfaction with pedestrian facilities at UIN Suska Riau. The parameter of safety from crime obtained the highest satisfaction of 60.50%. However, significant dissatisfaction was found in several parameters: availability of crossings (86%), infrastructure for people with disabilities (84.50%), availability of pedestrian paths (81%), completeness of supporting facilities (63%), conflicts with transportation modes (43.50%), driver behaviour (42.50%), and constraints or barriers (41%). Although the interview results showed high dissatisfaction on several parameters, the assessment based on the PUPR Guidelines obtained a score of 58.103 categorising the pedestrian facilities at UIN Suska Riau as ‘quite good.’ Meanwhile, the Global Walkability Index (GWI) score of 60.213 indicates a category of ‘waiting to walk,’ meaning some facilities are accessible on foot. These findings indicate that although there are parameters that need improvement, the pedestrian facilities at UIN Suska Riau have met the walkability standard. However, improvements are needed to enhance user comfort and safety.
