Faktor-Faktor yang Memengaruhi Partisipasi Petani Pada Kegiatan Penyuluhan Pertanian Dalam Pengelolaan Lahan Gambut Di Kecamatan Rengat Barat Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu
Indragiri Hulu Regency is an area in Riau Province that has the largest peatland area in Riau. The large area owned certainly has various problems, one of which is forest and land fires on peatlands. Peatlands tend to be vulnerable to fire, degradation and significant environmental changes. Farmers living around peatlands are the ones most directly affected by the existence and management of these lands. Participatory agricultural extension aims to introduce farmers to sustainable agricultural practices that are suitable for peatland conditions. The objectives of this study were to identify the level of farmer participation in peatland management for the prevention of forest and land fires in Redang Village and Sialang Dua Dahan Village, and to analyze the factors that influence the level of farmer participation in the implementation of agricultural extension in peatland management for the prevention of forest and land fires in Redang Village and Sialang Dua Dahan Village.
This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method using a questionnaire that has been tested through validity and reliability tests. The sampling approach applied was the census method with a total sample size of 30 respondents. The objectives in this study were answered using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS 25 software.
The results showed that participation at the decision-making, implementation, utilization, and evaluation stages obtained with an average scale value was high, indicating that Redang Village and Sialang Dua Dahan Village had a high awareness of fire prevention for cultivation on peatlands. Factors that significantly influence the level of farmer participation in peatland management in West Rengat Sub-district are farming experience, farm income, cosmopolitan, farmer knowledge of peat, interaction with extension workers and interaction with fire awareness communities. The factors that did not significantly influence the level of participation were age, education and land size.
