Adaptasi Petani Dalam Masa Peremajaan Kelapa Sawit Di Desa Bukit Gajah Kecamatan Ukui Kabupaten Pelalawan

This research was conducted in Bukit Gajah Village, Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency. The aims of this research are 1) To find out how the oil palm rejuvenation process works, 2) What are the obstacles faced by farmers during the rejuvenation process and 3) What are the adaptation strategies of oil palm farmers in facing plantation rejuvenation in Bukit Gajah Village. This research uses adaptation strategy theory. The method used is a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. Sampling in this research used a purposive technique. The data collection instruments used were observation, documentation and interviews. The results of this research are 1) The process of rejuvenating oil palm in Bukit Gajah Village is carried out by collecting files, plowing the land, uprooting old oil palm trees, planting nuts, making holes for oil palm seeds, planting oil palm trees, and providing fertilizer and care. 2) Obstacles faced by farmers during the rejuvenation process due to lack of adequate facilities such as heavy equipment, capital, lack of labor, unfavorable weather and 3) Adaptation strategies that have been carried out by oil palm farmers in facing plantation rejuvenation, namely the village provides complete facilities such as heavy equipment, choosing weather-resistant seeds, working as a palm oil worker, growing plants to increase income such as chilies, vegetables and tubers, borrowing money from relatives and other sources, having savings, family members working outside of agriculture, minimizing expenses family.
