The Effect ofUsing Impromptu Speaking Technique on Students’ English-Speaking Ablity
This study aim to determine whether the use of impromptu speaking has an effect on
studens‘ English-speaking ability among the students ofMAN 2 Kuantan Singingi in
academic year 2024/2025. This research design was a quasi experimental design with
quantitative approach and applied pre-experiment, one group pretest and post-test
research design. The isntrument to collect the data were oral dialogue with one
situation and the data werenalyzed using SPSS 27. The population ofthis research is
all Pare Arabic and English Course of MAN 2 Kuantan Singingi, while the sample
was 11th generation consisting of 40 students. The results revealed that the average
pretest and post-test in the experimental class was increased by 21 point meanwhile
in the controlled class, which used conventional methods, the average students score
only increased 18 point from the pretest score. Additionally the result of independent
sample t-test was 0,009, which is smaller than the alpha value (0,05). Based on the
study‘s result it can be concluded that impromptu speaking had a positive effect on students‘ English-speaking ability.
