Prarancangan Pabrik Etil Benzena Dari Etilen Dan Benzena Dengan Proses Mobil/Badger
ABSTRACT
The design of an ethylbenzene plant with a production capacity of 240,000 tons per year in Cilegon, Banten, aims to meet domestic and international demands for ethylbenzene derivatives such as styrene monomer. The chosen location is strategic due to its proximity to raw material sources, adequate infrastructure, and good accessibility to export markets. This project also focuses on meeting domestic ethylbenzene needs and reducing import dependency. The ethylbenzene production process involves the reaction of ethylene with benzene using a ZSM-5 catalyst. The technology employed is modern, ensuring high efficiency and minimal environmental impact. Furthermore, the project is expected to create new job opportunities and contribute to the development of the petrochemical industry in Indonesia. Quantitative analysis was conducted based on NPV, IRR, ROI, PBP, BEP, and sensitivity criteria. The study results indicate that the plant with a production capacity of 240,000 tons/year is feasible to construct. Non-financial analysis, including market, environmental, management, and legal aspects, shows no significant barriers to the plant's construction and operation. Financial analysis reveals that the project is viable, with an NPV of IDR 1,405,423,011,038.57; ROI of 23.25%; PBP of 3.09 years; BEP of 38.68%; and IRR of 22.70%, which is higher than the RRR of Bank BRI (22.55%). Thus, the construction of the ethylbenzene plant is deemed feasible.
