Prarancangan Pabrik Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether Dari Isobutane Dan Methanol Menggunakan Proses Uop – Oleflex Dengan Desain Alat Utama Ffixed Bed Reactor (R-102)
ABSTRAK
The design of the Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether (MTBE) plant with a production capacity of 60,000 tons per year in Bontang, East Kalimantan, aims to meet domestic and international needs for environmentally friendly fuels. The location chosen is strategic because it is close to raw material sources, has adequate infrastructure, and has good accessibility to export markets. This project also focuses on meeting domestic needs for MTBE, reducing dependence on imports, and supporting national energy independence. The feasibility study shows that this project is economical and has significant profit potential. The MTBE production process involves the reaction of isobutene with methanol using an acid catalyst. The technology used is modern technology with high efficiency and minimal environmental impact. This plant is designed to comply with international safety and environmental standards, and utilizes local resources to support the regional economy. In addition, this project is expected to create new jobs and contribute to the development of the petrochemical industry in Indonesia. A study on the feasibility of building an MTBE plant is needed to analyze the feasibility of investment based on technical, institutional, market, environmental, management, and legal aspects; financial feasibility; and the sensitivity of the feasibility of building a plant to decreases in production capacity, selling price, sales volume, and production costs. The analysis study uses data from the literature. Quantitative analysis is carried out based on the criteria of NPV, IRR, ROI, PBP, BEP, and sensitivity. The results of the study indicate that the MTBE plant with a production capacity of 60,000 tons/year is feasible to be built. Based on non-financial analysis covering the market, environment, management, and law, there are no obstacles that hinder the construction and operation of the plant. The results of the financial analysis show that the construction of the plant can be carried out with an NPV value of Rp 1,634,037,254,608; ROI 43.03%; PBP 0.78 years; BEP 47.03 and IRR 22.74% which is higher than the RRR value of Bank BRI (22.55%) so that this MTBE plant is feasible to be established.
