Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Energi Berbasis Mitigasi Bencana Untuk Membangun Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Pada Pembelajaran Sma/Smk
Peatlands in Indonesia are estimated to reach 27 million hectares, mainly spread across coastal lowlands. This area is vulnerable to disasters such as floods and landslides during the rainy season, as well as the threat of coastal erosion and high sea waves. Water loss in carbon soil causes peatlands to shrink by around 3–5 cm per year, increasing the risk of flooding in the rainy season and fires in the dry season due to ongoing oxidation. Therefore, effective mitigation efforts are needed, one of which is through the development of disaster mitigation-based learning media.
This research aims to design, test the validity and assess the practicality of energy learning media based on disaster mitigation. The research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The research objects include learning media and guidebooks, with data obtained through validation by three learning media experts and practicality tests by three teachers and 20 students.
This learning media includes automatic fire alarm systems and automatic flood alarms. The development begins with a needs analysis, continues with design based on aesthetic, convenience and affordability criteria, and ends with the validation and practicality testing stages. The research results show that the learning media developed is declared valid and practical for use in high school/vocational school learning to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research is still limited to the development stage, so it is recommended for further implementation to test its effectiveness and be further developed to overcome challenges in learning.
Key words: peatlands, disaster mitigation, learning media, energy, critical thinking skills.
