Kelimpahan Bakteri Nitrosomonas Sp. Dan Nitrobacter Sp. Di Waduk Plta Koto Panjang
The Koto Panjang hydropower reservoir is used for various functions (multipurpose reservoirs), one of which is the cultivation of floating net cages (KJA). This cultivation activity has an impact in the form of increased organic matter at the bottom of the waters due to excess feeding, as a result of which the concentration of ammonia is relatively high at the bottom, where ammonia is toxic. If ammonia is converted to nitrite or nitrate in the nitrification process, of course, it requires oxygen and nitrifying bacteria so that the presence of oxygen will affect the nitrification process. This study aims to determine the abundance of nitrifying bacteria in the Koto Panjang Reservoir. This research was carried out in February-March 2024 in the waters of the Koto Panjang Hydropower Reservoir, Riau Province. The research location was set at 3 stations with different characteristics. The research method used is in the form of a survey method. Water sampling was carried out 3 times for 6 weeks with an interval of 2 weeks with vertical sampling points determined, namely on the water surface, a 5 m water column, and a 10 m water column. The water quality parameters measured, including temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, brightness, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. Abundance of Nitrosomonas sp. on the surface ranges from 3.06-11.93 MPN/mL and in the water column ranges from 6.06-93.66 MPN/mL, with the concentration of dissolved oxygen on the surface of the water ranges from 7.77-8.59 mg/L and in the 10m water column ranges from 4.45-5.44mg/L. Based on the data obtained, the bacteria Nitrosomonas sp. increases as the water column increases, while oxygen decreases as the water column increases. However, the bacteria Nitrobacter sp. not found during the study.
