Minyak Atsiri Kulit Buah Jeruk Manis Dengan Menggunakan Metode Destilasi Uap
ABSTRACT
Sweet orange peel can be used to make essential oil which is obtained by
distillation. Steam distillation is one method that is widely used to extract the
essential oil of sweet orange peel. The purpose of the research was to obtain the
best distillation time for the physicochemistry of essential oils from sweet orange
peel. The research was carried out experimentally using the Completely
Randomized Design (CRD) method with 5 treatments and 3 replications to obtain
15 experimental units. The treatments in this study were P1 (2 hours), P2 (3
hours), P3 (4 hours), P4 (5 hours) and P5 (6 hours). The research results were
analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA). If Fcount is greater
than Ftable then continue with the DMRT test at the 5% level. The parameters
analyzed in this research are yield, refractive index, specific gravity, color and
solubility in alcohol. The research results showed that distillation time has a
significant influence on the results analyzed. The treatment chosen in this study
was P5 (distillation time 6 hours) resulting in a sweet orange peel essential oil
yield of 0,64%, refractive index 1,4745, specific gravity 0,8119 g/ml, color L
(brightness) 31,48, a* (reddish) -0,2800, b* (yellowish) 2,8200, and solubility in
alcohol 1:1 is clear.
