Efektivitas Ekstrak Organik Kulit Buah Jengkol (Pithecellobium Lobatum Benth.) Terhadap Mortalitas Hama Ulat Grayak Jagung (Spodoptera Frugiperda J.E. Smith) Di Laboratorium
ABSTRACT
Maize (Zea mays) is one of the most important carbohydrate-producing food crops in the world along with wheat and rice. Maize production in Riau decreased by 15%-75% due to Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith larvae attack. Jengkol fruit rind (Pithecellobium lobatum Benth.) is one of the plants that have the potential as a vegetable insecticide. P. lobatum contains the active compound jengkolic acid that entered as a stomach poison and works by distrupting the digestive system. This study aims to obtain an effective concentration on the mortality of fall armyworms (Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith). The study was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of six treatments with four replications that obtained 24 experimental units. The treatments given were several concentrations of jengkol fruit rind extract with ethanol organic solvents of 0%, 0,2%, 0,4%, 0,6%, 0,8%, and 1%. Parameters observed were time of initial death (hours), lethal time 50 (LT50), lethal concentration 50 and 95 (LC50 and LC95), daily mortality, total mortality, behavioral and morphological changes, temperature and humidity. The results showed that the effective concentration was 0,8%, because it was able to cause a total mortality of 82,5% with an initial time of death of 19,50 hours, and a lethal time of 50 (LT50) at 64,25 hours after application.
