Dampak Keberadaan PT. Timah Wahana Perkit Jaya Di Kehidupan Nelayan Tradisional Di Desa Tanjungbakau Kecamatan Rangsang Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
This study aims to analyze the impact of PT. Timah Wahana Perkit Jaya on the lives of traditional fishermen in Tanjung Bakau Village, Rangsang Subdistrict, Meranti Islands Regency. The study uses James Scott's Moral Economy theory and the theory of Social Change, employing a qualitative method with interviews, observations, and data analysis techniques to understand the socio-economic changes experienced by fishermen before and after the operation of the tin mining company in 2013. The study reveals that the livelihoods of fishermen have been significantly affected by environmental changes due to mining activities, leading to a decrease in catches and changes in livelihoods. The tin mining company also provides support in the form of financial and social assistance; however, the long-term impact of environmental changes poses serious challenges to the lives of fishermen. This study hopes that the government will pay attention and continuously provide support to traditional fishermen by offering ongoing assistance, enabling the community of Tanjung Bakau Village to utilize natural resources while preserving fishing traditions to protect land and marine habitats that are the natural habitats for fish and marine biodiversity.
