Executive Summary Rancangan Pabrik Methyl Methacrylate (Mma) Dari Acetone Cyanohydrin (Ach) Proses Ach-Evonik Roehm Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Sulfonasi Ach (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is classed as an organic monomer or organic chemical compound in the ester group. MMA is an ester of methacrylic acid. In industry, MMA is known as the main raw material for the manufacture of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), a transparent plastic that is often used as an alternative to glass. MMA is widely used in the leather coating industry, cosmetics industry, paint industry, household appliances industry, and polymer industry. The MMA plant is planned to be established in the area of Jl. Raya Sukomulyo, Madura, Romo, Manyar District, Gresik Regency, East Java 6115 in 2024 with a production capacity of 40,000 tons/year.
The acetone cyanohydrin process is a method in the production of MMA which has several advantages, namely having abundant and efficient raw materials that increase the economic sustainability of this process, has a high conversion rate, relatively minimal by-products compared to other methods, high purity levels with 99.8% purity. Electricity is obtained from the PT PJB UP PLTGU, the electricity demand at the MMA plant is 36,699 kW/hr. The water source used in the design of the MMA plant comes from the Bengawan Solo River with a total water requirement of 924,8 kg/hour. Liquid waste generated in the industry in the form of catalyst residues, while other liquid waste sources are obtained from laboratory waste and domestic waste with a total waste flow rate of 1,555 kg/hour. The MMA plant process control uses instrumentation in the form of sensors, indicators, controllers, recorders, and plant safety devices such as alarms.
The results of the calculation of the PBP value obtained 2.12 years, the IRR value obtained 35.42%, BEP obtained 24.87%, and NPV obtained 1.35 trillion rupiah. Based on the economic feasibility analysis that has been carried out, it shows that the MMA plant is feasible to establish. The sensitivity analysis results show that NPV has the highest sensitivity to changes in raw material prices and product prices compared to other parameters. IRR has the lowest sensitivity to changes in raw material prices and BEP has the lowest sensitivity to changes in product prices compared to other parameters.
