This study aims to determine and describe parental support for students'
mathematics learning outcomes based on the educational background and work of
parents. This study uses a case study method which is a qualitative research
method. The subjects in this study were 6 parents and 6 grade IV students. Data
collection through interviews, observations and documentation. Data analysis
techniques are carried out by data reduction, data presentation and drawing
conclusions. The results of the study indicate that: 1) The form of parental support
consists of emotional, instrumental, information, and appreciation which are
influenced by the educational background and work of parents. 2) Students'
mathematics learning outcomes show variations where students with low scores
are 4 students, medium scores are 6 students, high scores are 8 students and very
high scores are 9 students. 3) The form of parental support is related to students'
mathematics learning outcomes, parents who have permanent jobs and high
education tend to be able to provide consistent support so that children are able to
obtain good learning outcomes, while parents with a work background with an
unstable income and lower education are sometimes constrained in providing
emotional support because they are busy working, simpler facilities and minimal
information so that it has an impact on learning outcomes that are less than
optimal or low.
