Perancangan Martial Art Center Dengan Pendekatan Bioklimatik Di Kota Pekanbaru
ABSTRACT
Martial arts are a type of sport that continues to grow and gain popularity around the world. In Riau Province, martial arts have developed rapidly, especially in branches such as pencak silat, boxing, and taekwondo. However, since the termination of the Student Sports Education and Training Program (PPLP) in 2021, the development of young athletes has been limited due to the lack of proper training facilities. Therefore, a Martial Art Center is needed in Pekanbaru City as an integrated training facility that can accommodate various martial arts in one area. The bioclimatic architectural approach was chosen because it responds well to the hot and humid tropical climate, creates thermal comfort, and helps reduce energy consumption. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method through literature study, site observation, and case study analysis, focusing on space functions and the application of passive design strategies. The bioclimatic strategies applied include minimizing solar heat, improving night-time cooling, natural ventilation, protection from rain and insects, semi-outdoor spaces, and resilience to extreme weather. The design results show that using cross ventilation, secondary skin, and vegetation can create energy-efficient and comfortable spaces. Besides supporting training and competitions, the building is also designed to ensure comfort for coaches, visitors, and other users. The concept of self-defense is used as the design philosophy to create a safe, adaptive space that supports athlete performance
