Perancangan Pasar Seni Pacu Jalur Di Teluk Kuantan Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Neo-Vernakular
ABSTRACT
Kuantan Singingi Regency, particularly the city of Teluk Kuantan, is a region rich in culture and tradition, one of which is the Pacu Jalur Festival. In addition to this traditional boat race, the local community actively produces various forms of art such as paintings, handicrafts, Pacu Jalur miniatures, and Kuansing’s distinctive batik. However, the development of the arts has not been supported by adequate facilities for exhibitions, promotion, and the sale of artworks. As a result, local artists face difficulties in showcasing and developing their creative potential.
The design of the Pacu Jalur Art Market is proposed as a solution—serving as a public space and center for cultural and artistic activities. The design concept adopts a neo-vernacular architectural approach inspired by the traditional Koto Godang house, featuring characteristic elements such as limasan roofs, wooden carvings, and the use of local materials like bamboo and exposed brick. These are combined with modern technology that is both functional and environmentally friendly.
