Perancangan Oceanarium Di Pekanbaru Dengan Pendekatan Water Management
ABSTRACT
Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world, with vast maritime territory, including Riau Province, where the water area far exceeds the landmass. Pekanbaru, the capital city of Riau Province, holds significant potential in the marine sector; however, education and marine life conservation remain limited. To address this issue, the development of a public oceanarium is necessary as a facility for recreation, education, observation, and marine life conservation. This is expected to enhance tourism, economic growth, and education in the city. An oceanarium in Pekanbaru requires efficient water management due to its high water consumption. By applying a Water Management design approach, this issue can be effectively addressed. The design objectives include identifying the needs for recreational and educational facilities, as well as implementing sustainable water management strategies. The Glass Box method is used to create a transparent and structured design, while precedent studies analyze references from other oceanariums to adapt water management systems to the local context. The oceanarium is designed with the "Water Flow" concept, a design idea that utilizes the journey of water as the central theme. This concept illustrates the journey of water from land to sea.
