Pengaruh Waktu Kontak Dan Debit Aliran Terhadap Penyisihan Kadar Fe Pada Air Tanah Di Wilayah Gambut Dengan Metode Cascade Aerator
ABSTRACT
Groundwater in peat areas has a high Fe content. One method of processing
to remove Fe levels in groundwater in peat areas is the aeration method using
a cascade aerator. Aeration is the process of adding oxygen to water so that
it can cause an Fe oxidation reaction which will form Fe(OH)3 precipitates.
This research aims to analyze the ability of cascade aerators to reduce Fe
levels in groundwater in peat areas using variations in contact time of 30
minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes and flow rate variations of 0.1 l/minute, 0.2
l/minute, 0.3 l/minute. Then the gas transfer coefficient (KLa) value was
calculated during the aeration process. The Fe content before the aeration
process was 1.264 mg/L. The research results showed that the highest
reduction in Fe levels occurred at a contact time of 30 minutes using a flow
rate of 0.3 l/minute with an efficiency of 95.64%. The highest gas transfer
coefficient (KLa) value occurred at a contact time of 30 minutes using a
discharge of 0.3 l/minute, namely 1.257/minute. The research results
obtained have met the clean water quality standards according to the
Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017.
Key words: Cascade aerator, contact time, flow rate, iron (Fe).
